Obama's "Bill Pullman" Moment

"It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America."

Not one President, except for fictional ones, has sent shivers down my spine. When I heard this clip this morning on the radio I cried tears of joy because change has defiently come to the United States of America.

Fall

It is fall...

The students are back on campus and fall is in full swing.

I did manage to score a new job this summer (check!). I now work in the Admissions Office at the Ross School of Business. I am the glorified paper pusher and do-girl for the undergraduate BBA program and the graduate MAcc program. I am loving it. I have a cubicle, photos of my family, a plant, and a NKOTB poster on my wall.

Wedding plans are going well. I have bought a dress (YEAH! - and check!), now I have to lose 50 lbs to get into it :) Good thing I have a year :) We also purchased and are ready to mail out our "Save the date" cards to all A-listers on our invite list (check!). Still need to make two deposits. 1. to facility and 2. to our wedding decorator. Bleh... (Mr. President, I could use another $1,100 refund please!)

491 Days

Oy...

Weddings...
A million things to plan and pay for ALREADY! that we are not prepared for! Specifically deposit on facility and making reservations for the honeymoon in 2010 THIS FALL!

Jobs...
Hoping to have a new one soon! Have a 2nd interview on Tuesday, July 1. Crossing my fingers! Must "pay attention to detail". Hmmm.. seemed to have fooled them so far... this may prove to be a high stress job due to the fact that everything needs to be perfect all the time o_O

Bills...
Too many and not enough money. Only had two Slumber parties this month and I am actually really feeling it now. No extra money for gas ($50 a tank, thank you Mr. President); no extra money to go out; no gas to drive to work (WTF!); Too many credit card bills (must sell my sole and pay them off somehow!).

Broke-ness... (meh)

EEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

501 days to go!

I know that seems like a lot to some people, but it is right around the corner for me. (Since we have been engaged since September 2006!).

Tonight I am going with the girls to try on dresses. My goal's for this trip:
1. Find dress/backup dress (Check)
2. Take horrifying pictures of me looking like Jabba-The-Hutt in said dress to motivate me to lose 50 lbs in the next year (Check)

Officially ask my sisters to be in my wedding. (Check)
(Following up with an entire wedding party dinner this fall - after horrifying budget/guest list meeting with parents!)

We have most of the planning done (like 90%) and just have to start ordering things, making "final" decisions, and paying for items and services :o\

David's Bridal... here I come!

A new day

Today I have decided to develop myself on the world wide web by creating a personal web page and professional blog (that is p-r-o-f-e-s-s-i-o-n-a-l).

Hopefully someone out there may find this, or I will end up just Google'ing myself and being amused that I now have a place in the "world" under Shannon Marshall.

More to come...
